Our Mens Silk Shirts are ideal for many situations; from ‘open neck’ casual, to accompanying a suit, blazer or dinner jacket. So, whether in a relaxed or smart setting, you’ll be surrounded in luxurious comfort.
The material has been specially and uniquely selected by Silkwood Silk. It is called Fuji silk, which is a weave of tightly spun Mulberry silk. It is a relatively heavy silk at 22.5 momme, which qualifies it to be probably the best quality material for a man’s dress Silk Shirt in the world today.
The shirts are ‘Ivory’ in colour. We have sometimes been asked if we have –or will have- different colours. The demand for colours other than ivory is too small to make holding stocks feasible. However some customers have had their shirts dyed to a colour of their choice and have been very pleased with the results.
Washing is as easy as for any other shirt material. They are machine washable and can be steam ironed. However, there is one proviso: The washing temperature should set at 30⁰C and of course the steam iron setting should be on “Silk”.
With Mens Silk Shirts, the desired length of sleeve is the distance between the centre of the back of the neck and the end of the wrist bone with the measuring tape going over the top of the shoulder and over the bent elbow. It goes without saying that you can’t measure yourself. So if there’s no one to help, you could measure one of your existing shirts that fits you well.
Nevertheless some customers find the sleeves too long. This can be remedied reasonably easily. All tailors and most dry cleaners retain a seamstress. It is the work of moments for the cuff to be removed, the curtailment made and the cuff replaced.
